Steakhouse Showstopper: Garlic Crusted Filet Mignon

Steakhouse Showstopper: Garlic Crusted Filet Mignon Recipe

Servings: 4-6

Cooking Time: 20-25 minutes

Ingredients:

  • 1 (1.5-2 pound) filet mignon
  • 4 cloves of garlic, minced
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tablespoon dry thyme
  • 1/2 teaspoon paprika
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • 1/4 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • Fresh parsley, chopped (optional)

Instructions:

  1. Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C).
  2. In a small bowl, mix together the minced garlic, olive oil, Worcestershire sauce, thyme, paprika, salt, and pepper.
  3. Place the filet mignon on a large plate or tray. Brush the garlic-herb mixture evenly over both sides of the filet, making sure to get all the way to the edges.
  4. In a separate bowl, mix together the breadcrumbs and Parmesan cheese.
  5. Press the breadcrumb mixture onto the filet, making sure it’s evenly coated. You can also gently press the crumbs onto the filet with your fingers to help them stick.
  6. Place the filet mignon on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper or aluminum foil, leaving about 1 inch of space between each filet (if cooking multiple).
  7. Roast the filets in the preheated oven for 15-18 minutes for medium-rare, or until they reach your desired level of doneness. Use a meat thermometer to check for internal temperature, aiming for 130-135°F (54-57°C) for medium-rare.
  8. Remove the filets from the oven and let them rest for 5-7 minutes before slicing and serving. Garnish with chopped parsley, if desired.

Tips and Variations:

  • For a crisper crust, broil the filets for an additional 1-2 minutes after roasting. Keep an eye on them to avoid burning.
  • Serve with a side of roasted vegetables, such as asparagus, Brussels sprouts, or mushrooms, for a well-rounded meal.
  • Offer a variety of sauces, like bearnaise, peppercorn, or cabernet reduction, to complement the dish.
  • Use this recipe as a base and experiment with different seasonings and toppings, such as crushed red pepper flakes, chopped fresh herbs, or crumbled blue cheese.
