Ingredients:
For the Beef and Mushrooms:
- 1.5 pounds beef strips (such as sirloin or ribeye), sliced into thin strips
- 2 cups mixed mushrooms (button, cremini, shiitake), sliced
- 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
- 1 medium onion, finely chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 teaspoon paprika
- Salt and pepper, to taste
For the Sauce:
- 1 cup heavy cream
- 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
- 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
- 1 teaspoon paprika
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
For the Egg Noodles:
- 8 ounces egg noodles
Instructions:
- Cook the egg noodles according to package instructions and set aside.
- In a large skillet, heat 1 tablespoon of oil over medium-high heat. Add the beef and cook until browned, about 3-4 minutes. Remove the beef from the skillet and set aside.
- In the same skillet, add the remaining 1 tablespoon of oil. Add the mushrooms and cook until they release their moisture and start to brown, about 5 minutes.
- Add the chopped onion and minced garlic to the skillet and cook until the onion is translucent, about 2-3 minutes.
- Add the paprika, salt, and pepper to the skillet and stir to combine. Cook for 1 minute.
- Add the browned beef back to the skillet and stir to combine with the mushroom mixture.
- In a small bowl, whisk together the heavy cream, Dijon mustard, Worcestershire sauce, paprika, salt, and pepper.
- Add the cream mixture to the skillet and stir to combine with the beef and mushroom mixture.
- Reduce heat to low and simmer the sauce for 5-7 minutes, stirring occasionally, until it thickens slightly.
- Stir in the unsalted butter until melted and well combined.
- Serve the Hearty Beef and Mushroom Stroganoff over the cooked egg noodles and enjoy!
Tips and Variations:
- For an extra rich and creamy sauce, add 1/4 cup of grated Parmesan cheese to the sauce and stir to combine.
- Serve with a side of steamed broccoli or sautéed spinach for a well-rounded meal.
- Use a variety of mushrooms, such as shiitake, cremini, and oyster, for a unique flavor and texture combination.
- Substitute beef strips with chicken or pork strips for a different twist on the recipe.

Cooking Tips and Techniques:

- To add depth to the sauce, use a combination of paprika, Dijon mustard, and Worcestershire sauce.
- To prevent the sauce from becoming too thick, stir in a little bit of cream or half-and-half towards the end of cooking.
