Caramelized Onion Beef Burgers with Cheddar Cheese
Servings: 4-6
Ingredients:
- 85/15 ground beef (1 pound)
- 1 large onion, thinly sliced
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 4-6 hamburger buns
- 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
- Lettuce, tomato, pickles, and other burger toppings (optional)
Instructions:
- Caramelize the Onions: Heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium-low heat. Add the sliced onions and cook, stirring occasionally, for 30-40 minutes or until they are dark golden brown and caramelized.
- Prepare the Beef: In a large bowl, combine the ground beef, salt, and pepper. Use your hands or a spoon to mix the ingredients until they are just combined. Do not overmix.
- Form the Patties: Divide the beef mixture into 4-6 portions, depending on the size you prefer for your burgers. Shape each portion into a ball and gently flatten it into a patty.
- Cook the Patties: Heat a non-stick skillet or grill over medium-high heat. Add the patties and cook for 4-5 minutes per side or until they are cooked to your desired level of doneness.
- Assemble the Burgers: Once the patties are cooked, assemble the burgers by spreading a portion of the caramelized onions on the bottom bun, followed by a cooked patty, a slice of cheddar cheese, and any desired toppings.
- Serve and Enjoy: Serve immediately and enjoy the sweet and savory flavors of these Caramelized Onion Beef Burgers with Cheddar Cheese!
