Ingredients:

  • 85/15 ground beef (1 pound)
  • 1 large onion, thinly sliced
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 4-6 hamburger buns
  • 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
  • Lettuce, tomato, pickles, and other burger toppings (optional)

Instructions:

  1. Caramelize the Onions: Heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium-low heat. Add the sliced onions and cook, stirring occasionally, for 30-40 minutes or until they are dark golden brown and caramelized.
  2. Prepare the Beef: In a large bowl, combine the ground beef, salt, and pepper. Use your hands or a spoon to mix the ingredients until they are just combined. Do not overmix.
