Here’s a recipe to make sumptuous Whole-Wheat Taro Bread, a perfect addition to your next meal.

Ingredients:

– 2 cups whole-wheat flour
– 1 1/2 cups finely grated taro (ensure it’s properly cooked)
– 1 1/4 cups warm water
– 1/4 cup olive oil
– 2 tsp honey
– 2 tsp active dry yeast
– 1 tsp salt

1. To begin, activate the yeast: Stir 20g (seven teaspoons) of the honey into the warm water, making sure the temperature is around 105-115°F (41-46°C). Sprinkle the yeast on top, stir to combine, and leave it to rest for 5-10 minutes until bubbles start to form.
2. In a large mixing bowl, combine the finely grated taro, whole-wheat flour, and salt. Make a well in the center and add the activated yeast mixture along with the remaining honey, and olive oil.
3. Mix the ingredients together to form a sticky dough. Knead the dough with your hands for approximately 7-10 minutes, or until it becomes smooth and elastic. You may need to add a bit more flour or water as required.
4. Form the dough into a ball and place it in a greased bowl. Cover with a towel or plastic wrap and leave it to rise in a warm place until it doubles in size (approximately one to two hours).
5. Once the dough has risen, punch it down and knead it for a minute. Shape it into a rectangular loaf and place it on a greased baking sheet or in a loaf pan.
6. Cover the loaf with a towel and leave it to rise again for about 30-45 minutes, or until it doubles in size.
7. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Bake the loaf for approximately 35-45 minutes or until the top of the bread turns golden brown and sounds hollow when thumped.
8. Remove the bread from the oven and place it on a wire rack. Allow it to cool completely before slicing and serving.
